Hatred of Jews

Image from: www.historyimages.blogspot.com

In this photograph you see many Nazi soldiers surrounding a young man whilst holding their firearms and keeping a close watch. He is obviously defenseless and doesn't seem to be putting up any fight. You can see the disgust on the soldiers' faces. This reminds me of when they are leaving the ghetto and being yelled at by all of the officers to run faster and to hurry up. It also reminds me of how broken Elie's family seemed and his father crying while his mother obediently marched along with Elie's sisters.

Auschwitz

This image is from the Auschwitz, which they were in after Birkenau (even though Birkenau is an extension of the massive Auschwitz.) This image reminds of when Elie and his father were called outside suddenly. It was a nice, spring day in May and they were all called to line up five by five. Elie's father encouraged him to march through many gates and were soon walking without barbed wire around them. Shortly after, the thirty minute walk concluded when they spotted another never-ending guard of barbed wire and when the crossed through the massive iron gates they noticed the above inscription, "Arbeit Macht Frei". It means, "Work Makes You Free."

Children of the Holocaust

This photograph shows the emaciated children of the Holocaust. It reminds of the place in the novel where they arrive at the Musician's block and their new Blockälteste was a German Jew named Alphonse. He wanted to defend the block and would try to get an extra cauldron of soup for the younger and weaker members of the block. Elie states here that the soup was, "For those who dreamed more of an extra portion of food than of liberty." At this point, many just thought about the food, rather than what their situation was, because they had learned to deal with it.

Snow Days

We have already reached our limit on snow days.  In fact, we are two days over!  This means that we are coming back after Memorial Day to finish up our 180 days!  I watched many movies such as, "Frozen", "Shutter Island", "Death at a Funeral", "The Back-Up Plan", "Zoolander", and "Brothers".  Yeah, that is a lot of movies!  I played "Just Dance 2" and "The Michael Jackson Experience" on the Wii.  I love both of these games and I am pretty awesome at them.  My friend, Trisha, Nikki, and I all went snowboarding and sledding.  I took many hard falls on that snowboard.  It hates me.  It was really fun though.  I didn't have to work during my snow days, which was awesome!

Bubble Shooter

I am here today to express my remorse about bubbleshooter.net being blocked.  Bubble Shooter was one of the funnest games to play in your down time at school.  I have a couple classes that require computer use.  When you are finished with all of your assingments, you are allowed to do other things.  It became a very popular activity amongst my peers and me.  Sadly, the Dans Guardian has now blocked it.  R.I.P. Bubble Shooter.  You will be missed.

Gator Huntin' Live

Gator Huntin'

Our podcast about alligator hunting was fun to make!  We got to use accents and make up a fun story about a competition we were commentating.  It was kind of stressful though because I wasn't sure if it was going to be long enough!  After we had everything recorded I had to take it home and piece it together.  Some people saved it in different formats so I had to piece some stuff together. Now, I am waiting on my next step for uploading.  Overall, I think it worked out pretty well.
